If you’re reading this then I’m already d….wait, that’s the beginning of a different speech. If you’re reading this, then we’d like to say a massive thank you for checking out our blog! Eff It I’m On Holiday started in December 2013, when Vlad decided he wanted a place to share his travel photos and Facebook wasn’t going to cut it anymore. We had no idea back then that we would end up talking with so many like-minded travelers around the world, telling us they loved our photos or that we’ve inspired them to travel – honestly, that’s the best part of blogging. 🙂
What “Eff It I’m On Holiday” means
You may be thinking “Eff It I’m On Holiday” means getting drunk and acting crazy and irresponsible because you’re on holiday after all, aren’t you? No sir, you don’t get a free pass to act like a babbling, bumbling band of baboons (five points if you know the reference) because you’re abroad, that’s not how holidays work. What it actually means (to me and hopefully to you) is enjoying every single moment of travel, without worrying about the daily struggles, the tasks you left behind at work or the bills you forgot to pay. I believe traveling is what you make it to be, it can be freedom, adventure, trying out new things, new dishes, spending a weekend in a place you’ve been dying to visit or return to and making the most of it, not caring if it’s raining and you’re soaking wet because you’re in your favorite city in the world, the excitement you feel when you step off the plane in a country you’ve dreamed of visiting, the thrill of knowing that in a week you’ve made memories to last a lifetime.
What you’ll find on the blog
We aim to inspire you to travel more often even if you work full time by showing you beautiful destinations around the world. We write about our personal experiences, including funny stories, complaints about the weather, delicious food reviews, as well as share tips on budgeting, photography and how to make the most of your holiday.
The posts are organized in the following categories:
- Travel Inspiration – here you will find all the posts about specific destinations, what to see, where to go, what to eat.
- Travel Stories – We always mix every post with our own personal views, but here you can read our stories about getting lost, rained on, or experiences with bad restaurants.
- Travel Advice – Vlad is a great travel planner and he’s always in charge of getting everything ready for our trips. Here you’ll find some of his best tips.
- Reviews – stories about places we’ve visited that impressed us (in a good or bad way)
- Visit Romania – our home country is gorgeous, yet underrated, so we’re going to show you why you should visit it.
- Through My Lens – photo stories from places we haven’t spent too much time, but we fell in love with them anyway.
- Foodie travels – Paul’s specialty, here you’ll find posts about what we’ve ate, what we recommend and what you should avoid.
For posts about a specific country we’ve visited, you can check out the Destinations page.
Meet the team
Hey there, I’m Vlad and traveling has been a drug for me ever since I first set foot outside my country. If I’m not on my way to a new journey, you’ll find me thinking, talking or dreaming about a new trip on my quest to see as much as possible of this world. I’m always planning and reading about new destinations, to the point where I annoy my friends by telling them every day about this new place we just have to visit as soon as possible.
Other important things you need to know about me: I’m a huge music fan, though my tastes range from EDM to symphonic metal (weird combination, I know) and I love to combine my love for live concerts with the one for travel, I love superhero movies/comic books/tv shows/t-shirts, I’m crazy about strawberries (especially the wild ones), I collect music CDs but I also have an Apple Music subscription (ain’t that funny?) and I’m a sucker for cheesy YA novels.
Hi, I’m Paul and I am the foodie of this blog. I like to travel in order to see new places, to meet new people, but most important to try different kind of traditional dishes. Eff it, I’m not on a diet, am I right? 😉 I will be covering all posts food related, from traditional dishes I’ve had in different countries, to our favorite restaurants and the not-so-favorites that we wish we could forget (though they always make for the funniest stories).
I’m a huge panda lover and would travel to any country just to see a panda (much to the amusement of my friends), I am a fantasy nerd and always find myself reading unbelievably long book series and while Vlad collects CDs, I need a separate room for all my books.
